First United Methodist Church in Rogers, 307 W. Elm St., presents Bishop Minerva Garza Carcano speaking Sept 29-30 as part of the church's Lewis Lecture Series. Carcano is the first Hispanic woman elected to the episcopacy of the United Methodist Church and an advocate for immigration reform and inclusion of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.

Carcano will speak on immigration reform in America at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 29. She will address "A Way Forward in the United Methodist Church" during the worship services at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sept. 30.

Village Bible Church in Bella Vista, 1591 Forest Hills Blvd., offers a new women's Bible study, "The Grace of God," which considers what grace is, what it's not and how it should impact lives. The class will meet at 9 a.m. every Tuesday, beginning this week.

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., sponsors a Foundation picnic at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Participants can sing along with the church's Gospel Band and Gospel 4 after the meal.

The church offers a seven-week Bible study for women based on Missing Pieces: Real Hope When Life Doesn't Make Sense by Jennifer Rothschild. The class meets from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 6 to 8 p.m. starting Oct. 4. Cost is $13.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., offers a "Senior Safety Academy" from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 8. Topics include identity theft, local scams, elder abuse, Medicare fraud, prescription drug safety and more. Breakfast and lunch are provided for those who register with the church.

The church operates the Shepherd's Food Pantry from 10 a.m. to noon each Friday. The pantry needs donations of peanut butter, jelly, sugar-free Jello, heart-healthy soup, 12-count egg cartons and Best Choice PVC labels.
