Two youths killed after vehicle overturns in Hempstead County

Two youths died Thursday after the vehicle they were riding in overturned in southwest Arkansas, state police said.

The wreck happened at 6 p.m. on County Road 324 in Hempstead County, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary report.

Troopers wrote that a male and female minor were passengers in a 1994 Mitsubishi that was traveling east when it veered off the road and overturned.

The youths, whose names and ages have not been released, died in the wreck, authorities said.

Conditions were described as clear and dry at the time of the wreck.

At least 371 people have died in crashes on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
