I-49 reopened after a tractor trailer fire closed the interstate

UPDATE: According to a twitter post from the Arkansas Department of Transportation all Interstate 49 northbound lanes are open following a tractor trailer accident.

One lane may close this evening so crews can offload and remove the damaged truck.

4:31 p.m.: Northbound lanes should be open by 4:45 p.m., according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation.

4:46 p.m.:

State police have opened up southbound traffic following the tractor trailer accident west of Winslow. The northbound lanes are still closed and authorities have detoured traffic to Chester at Exit 36, according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation. No estimate was given as to when when normal traffic flow will resume.

EARLIER:

Interstate-49 northbound is closed because of a tractor trailer fire, according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation.

The tractor trailer is emitting hazardous chemicals west of Winslow.

The department is advising people to avoid the area.
