Horse shot in head with arrow in Central Arkansas

A horse’s owner called authorities after his animal was shot in the head with an arrow Sunday night, a report shows.

The Jefferson County sheriff’s office was called around 7 p.m. to a residence the 2900 block of Bartlett Road in Redfield, a report states.

The animal's owner told a deputy that he was checking on his tan palomino horse, Dusty, when he saw that there was a black arrow sticking out of the animal’s head. According to the report, the 49-year-old man tried to pull out the projectile, but the arrowhead was stuck in the horse’s skull above its right eye.

No suspects were named, and no arrests had been made at the time of the report.

Redfield is a town of 1,510 about 25 miles southeast of Little Rock.
