Shiloh Museum of Ozark History invites Northwest Arkansans to join the staff and board of directors for the "Tap Takeover" on Nov. 15 at Arkansas' only cidery, Black Apple Crossing in Springdale.

Proceeds from the Takeover will help support the museum's $1 million campaign to renovate the Shiloh Meeting Hall, "Overhaul the Hall." The group to date has raised more than $716,000 for its work on the 1871 building in downtown Springdale, formerly called Shiloh Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge.

The evening drop-in event will give guests an opportunity to learn about apple history from Roy Rom and Guy Ames, hear about the meeting hall effort and enjoy food available for purchase from Baller Foodtruck. Museum board members and staff will serve as waitstaff for the evening, with "tips" going toward the campaign.

Since construction, the building has been used by three churches, a Masonic lodge, the Women's Civic Club and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Allyn Lord, museum executive director, said the campaign will help the museum complete exterior work on the hall, renovate the building's interior, provide landscaping, signs, lighting, parking and initial maintenance costs.

"The renovated Shiloh Meeting Hall will become a place not only for museum meetings and events, but also a place for lots of folks to meet," Lord said.
