Cooking Classes
The Ozark Folk Center will host two cooking classes, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Ozark Folk Center State Park, 1032 Park Ave., Mountain View.
Dutch oven cooking will feature traditional (outdoor) cooking techniques with hands-on recipes for pork roast; biscuits; potatoes; several types of cobbler; a vegetable dish or two.
Farmstead cheesemaking will feature recipes and techniques for making farmer's cheese, kefir, cottage cheese and yogurt. Cheeses will be made using herbs from the park's herb garden; fresh goat's milk and store bought cow's milk.
Each class costs $30 per person or $50 per couple. Dutch oven students will dine on the foods prepared during class. Cheesemaking students should take a sack lunch to enjoy with their cheeses. All students will receive a 10 percent off coupon to buy a Dutch oven or cheesemaking book in the Ozark Folk Center's Homespun Gift Shop.
