An Atkins woman was charged in district court Monday in the slaying of her husband, according to the Atkins Police Department.
Donna McCabe, 49, was charged with first-degree murder, and her bail was set at $750,000, Atkins Police Chief Stephen Pack said in a written statement. She is accused of killing her husband, 47-year-old Robert McCabe, on Saturday night.
About 10 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a possible homicide and found Donna McCabe at the scene. She was arrested and booked into the Pope County jail.
The Courier in Russellville reported Monday that McCabe was arrested after deputies with the Pope County sheriff's office found her husband dead, inside their home at 1908 SW Third St. in Atkins.
A deputy who testified Monday said investigators determined that Donna McCabe shot her husband in the head while he was sitting in a recliner, The Courier reported.
