Local Golf: Chick-A-Tee Invitational cancels Friday round

SPRINGDALE -- The 77th Dwight Collins Chick-A-Tee Invitational will be trimmed down to a 36-hole tournament this year after Friday's play at Springdale Country Club was cancelled due to wet course conditions.

The Chick-A-Tee, which originated in 1938 and is named in honor of the late SCC golf professional Dwight Collins, will tee off at 8 a.m. today. The field of more than 110 players will compete in 18 holes of stroke play today before concluding the tournament with another 18-hole round on Sunday.

Brett Grenata, a member at Springdale Country Club, returns for this year's Chick-A-Tee Invitational as the defending champion.
