A woman died Monday after her vehicle was hit by a train when she failed to stop at a railroad crossing, Arkansas State Police reported.

The collision occurred on County Road 341 near U.S. 63 between Jonesboro and Hoxie.

According to a preliminary report, Terry A. Nelson, 51, of Bono was driving a 2002 Ford north on County Road 341 about 2:20 p.m. when she failed to stop at the railroad crossing. She pulled into the path of a southbound train.

The train belonged to BNSF Railway.

On Saturday, three men were killed in single-vehicle wreck on U.S. 278.

Jose G. Puente, 23, of Ozan was driving a 1997 Ford Mustang west on U.S. 278 when he lost control on a curve and struck an embankment, state police said. The Mustang went airborne and overturned. It hit several trees and came to a stop on its side in the ditch.

Puente and two passengers -- 20-year-old Jesus Puente of Ozan and 26-year-old Blake Harding of Nashville, Ark. -- were killed.
