Wildlife officers catch three illegal hunters

BOONEVILLE — Wildlife officers with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service caught three people illegally hunting ducks and deer prior to the season opening. The three people were hunting the Rogers Scout Reservation in Logan County near Booneville.

Officers began surveillance on the property’s lake after receiving information that people had been shooting ducks before the season and baiting ducks. John Swink, the caretaker of the property, was charged with hunting migratory birds over bait and other migratory game bird violations and was fined $2,540. Anthony Harris was cited for hunting migratory birds over bait and migratory game bird shooting hour restrictions and was fined $1,360. Brandy Swink was charged with hunting migratory birds over bait and hunting big game in a closed season, migratory game bird shooting hour restrictions, and wasting edible portions of wildlife. She was fined $3,660.

All three received bench suspensions of their hunting and fishing rights for five years.
