VOLLEYBALL

Arkansas tops North Texas

Arkansas defeated North Texas 25-20, 18-25, 25-22, 25-22 Friday at the Jayhawk Classic in Lawrence, Kan.

Arkansas (6-6) was led by Meredith Hays with 15 kills, while Chanell Clark-Bibbs had 10 kills and 4 blocks. Monica Bollinger had 11 digs and Ana Sofia Jusino had 10 blocks.

As a team, Arkansas had 15 blocks to North Texas’ 6.

Arkansas plays Kansas at 6:30 p.m. today.

Henderson loses in three games

Henderson State lost 25-17, 25-21, 25-23 to Texas-Permain Basin at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia on Friday.

Jessica Moss led Henderson State (1-9) with 13 kills and Rayleight Thompson had 24 assists while Andjela Reljic had eight digs.

Arkansas Tech falls Lubbock Christian

Arkansas Tech fell 23-2, 25-23, 25-18, 26-24 to Lubbock Christian on Friday at Tucker Coliseum.

Madison Nagel had 33 digs and Katie Huff had 19 kills and 19 digs, and hit .552 for the Golden Suns (6-4). McCall Wilkins had 10 kills.

Lubbock Christian had 13 blocks to Arkansas Tech’s six. Amy Edwards led the Lady Chaps with 10 blocks.

ASU falls to SEMO

Arkansas lost 3-0 to Southeast Missouri State on Friday at the Arkansas State Soccer Complex in Jonesboro.

Breana Beine scored all thre goals for the Redhawks in the first half.

Arkansas State (2-6) goalie Amanda Lee made four saves in the second half after relieving Sara Wicks. The Redhawks had 11 shots on goal to the Redhawks’ 17.

Arkansas State hosts UAPB at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Harding loses to Mississippi College

Mississippi College scored two goals in the second half to beat Harding 2-1 Friday at the Stevens Soccer Complex in Searcy.

Mississippi College’s Lauren Prescott scored off a goalmouth scramble in the 78th minute to tie the game at 1-1. In the 81st minute, Lauren Prescott shot into a wide open net to put the Lady Choctaws up for good.

Harding’s only goal came in the first minute of the second half when Audrey Adkison scored off a pass from Melta Sutherland.

Harding (0-7-0) plays at Ouachita Baptist on Thursday.

FISHING

Day 2 canceled at Angler of the Year championship

The second day of the Bassmaster Angler of the Year Championship at Bays de Noc at Escamba, Mich. because of winds that created unsafe boating conditions.

Winds from the south, including gusts to 35 miles and 5-foot seas were predicted and a small craft advistory was in effect.

Competition will resume today, weather permitting.

The tournament features the top 50 elite series bass anglers competing for Angler of the Year and a berth in the 2015 Bassmaster Classic.

Brett Hite of Phoenix leads after the first day with 24 pounds, 6 ounces.
