News and notes

Catcher James McCann (Arkansas Razorbacks) played a big role in helping the Erie SeaWolves (AA Tigers) rally past the Harrisburg Senators 7-6 on Wednesday. Harrisburg (AA Nationals) held a 6-5 lead going to the bottom of the ninth inning, but Erie started the rally with a lead-off walk and a single to put runners at first and third. After two fly-outs, McCann singled to left field to tie the game and an errant throw from the outfield allowed the winning run to score. McCann also had a home run in the game and went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.

Pitcher Montreal Robertson (Mc-Gehee) was placed on the disabled list by the West Michigan Whitecaps (A Tigers) on May 17, retroactive to May 15, with an elbow strain. “His injury is not the type that occurred at one particular moment, so it’s really impossible to say [when it happened],” Whitecaps radio play-by-play announcer Ben Chiswick said. “It’s more of a wear-and-tear injury that develops over time.” Chiswick noted the injury came after Robertson’s best game of the season, which came at South Bend on May 11. Robertson allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits with 1 walk in 7 innings to earn a victory in that game. Chiswick said it is unclear how long Robertson will be on the disabled list. He said much of that will depend on how well Robertson’s rehabilitation goes and how quickly his arm heals.
