House offers video biographies

The state House of Representatives communication office has begun releasing video biographies of members, a spokesman said Thursday.

The office is producing the biographies at no additional cost using equipment purchased in 2009 to broadcast committee meetings and when the House is in session.

“The public may know that a member serves on a particular committee or how he or she voted on a hot-button issue…Partisanship is at itslowest when members know one another personally. We hope when members share their personal story with the public, it will have the same impact,” House Speaker Davy Carter said in a statement.

The videos will feature members describing their district and personal stories, and will be published on the House website throughout the remainder of the 89th General Assembly. The videos will also be posted to the House Facebook and Twitter accounts.
