Heritage’s Tumey Signes With Ecclesia

Rogers Heritage softball coach Tiffany Taylor had confidence something good was going to happen when Kaitlyn Tumey came to the plate this season.

Tumey, who earned all-conference honors as a junior, anchored the middle of the Lady War Eagles’ batting order this season and recently signed a national letter of intent to continue her softball career at Ecclesia College.

The senior outfielder hit .380 with three home runs and helped lead Heritage back to the state tournament this season. Taylor said Tumey got interest from several schools, but settled on staying closer to home.

“She definitely brought a good bat that we could put in the cleanup spot,” Taylor said. “As a coach, it’s good to have confidence that she was going to hit it hard somewhere no what she had done in her other at-bats. She will be hard to replace.”

Eccleisa College coach John Sisemore said Tumey’s bat was what caught his eye.

“She’s got some serious power and that’s something you can use on any team,” Sisemore said.
