The 2013 Johnson County Peach Festival is set for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in downtown Clarksville.
The festival will include an arts and crafts fair, peach cobbler and jam making contests, Arkansas Game and Fish mobile aquarium, kids’ zone and more.
A scavenger hunt kicks off the fun at 10:30 a.m. Thursday on the Clarksville square, followed by a banana split contest at the Clarksville Presbyterian Church. The Johnson County Has Talent contest is planned for 5 p.m. that night, followed by a praise band performance at 6 p.m. and Cinema on the Court Square at 8 p.m.
Friday events include a diaper derby at 9 a.m., bicycle obstacle course at 10 a.m., skateboard competition at 11 a.m. and frozen T-shirt contest at 2 p.m. The annual peach cobber bakeoff and jam/jelly competition are scheduled to start at noon, and the peach pie eating contest will begin at 1 p.m.
A four-mile run/walk begins the day at 7 a.m. Saturday. A fishing derby, greased pig chase, Great Celebrated Johnson County Frog Jump, helicopter tours and terrapin derby are also planned Saturday.
That afternoon guests can try their hand at spitting peach pits or eating peaches, participate in an egg or water balloon toss or march in the Peach Festival parade.
The annual Peach Festival horseshoe pitching tournament closes the festival at 10 a.m. Sunday.
