Police: Student Cut Six Schoolmates

FAYETTEVILLE — A Holt Middle School student faces criminal charges after police said she cut six schoolmates with a razor blade.

Officers were called to the school, 2365 N. Rupple Road, at 11:48 a.m. Friday.

According to a 911 call, a student brought a razor blade to school. Another student, a 12-year-old girl, took the blade and began cutting other students’ hands.

“They were playing some kind of game,” said Police Sgt. Craig Stout. “Three of them wanted to be cut and three didn’t.”

Stout said the students suffered minor cuts that didn’t require medical treatment.

Police Sgt. Shannon Gabbard said no other students were arrested in connection with the incident.

“As soon as it was detected, school administration took action and called us,” he said. “We conducted the necessary interviews and made the necessary arrest.”

The girl was arrested in connection with misdemeanor third-degree battery.

Alan Wilbourn, spokesman for the Fayetteville School District, said he couldn’t comment on the incident because it’s a student discipline matter that’s under investigation.

A message left for Mike Mason, Holt Middle School principal, wasn’t returned Friday.
