— Linda Lloyd of Bella Vista was shaking hands, gathering business cards and chatting with everyone she could at the REALgreen Expo on Friday.

“I’m new to Northwest Arkansas, so I wanted to come out and see what kind of green businesses there are,” Lloyd said.

Lloyd moved to Bella Vista in January after living in Amarillo, Texas, in an off- the-grid house for several years. She attended the expo to learn more about eco-friendly products and vendors in the area.

The expo is hosted by the Bentonville/Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce at the John Q. Hammons Center in Rogers. It continues today. The free event has workshops, samples of eco-friendly products and information on how to make businesses and households green, according to its website.

Lloyd said she hopes to take the information she learned at the expo and use it to help build an eco-friendly housing community in Bella Vista.

Brett and April Moore of Rogers also attended Friday’s expo. The couple said they wanted to learn how to save money while saving the environment.

“I’m big on green,” Brett said with a chuckle. He and April said they were both amazed at how many green products there are on the market and were pleased to see them on display at the expo.

Attending the expo is about education for many of the vendors there, Carson Co, a representative of Coca-Cola, said.

“We’re doing our best to educate our consumers to give it back,” Co said, noting part of Coca-Cola’s new sustainability initiative is to encourage customers to remember to recycle the bottles and aluminum cans Coke products come in.

Visitors to the Coca-Cola booth can learn about the recycling process for plastic bottles.
