Hutchinson files bill ensuring USA-made flags

— An Arkansas lawmaker wants to make sure that official state flags come from the United States.

Republican Rep. Donna Hutchinson of Bella Vista filed a bill Thursday that calls for the Secretary of State to buy only American-made flags that use patriotically named colors.

"Old Glory Red" and "Old Glory Blue" would be acceptable; Crayola favorites like scarlet and denim don't make the cut.

Grady McCoy owns a flag shop with his wife in Little Rock. He says he gets his Arkansas state flags from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and sometimes Alabama.

The Arkansas state flag, made in the U.S. or elsewhere, consists of a red rectangle with a white diamond in the center, bordered by a strip of blue with white stars.
