Peacock Enrolled at Arkansas

— Junior college transfer Jason Peacock began classes at the University of Arkansas Monday and will be eligible to go through spring practices with the Razorbacks beginning March 15.

Peacock, who spent two years at Citrus College in California, was delayed in arriving on campus because of a course that required completion at his former school. The 6-foot-4, 334-pound offensive tackle told Hawgs Illustrated last week he will take 12 credit hours during the spring semester at Arkansas.

“I’m not sure of all the details, but I know I will be in classes and that will allow me to go through spring practice,” Peacock said. “It’s a big deal for me because he will give me the best chance to make the biggest impact next season.”

Peacock is the sixth player that signed with Arkansas in February to enroll in spring classes at the school. Razorbacks coach Bobby Petrino said Peacock has a chance to compete for a starting spot right away with the departure of starting tackles DeMarcus Love and Ray Dominguez to graduation.

“He is a young man that we feel is very, very athletic,” Petrino said earlier this month. “He really understands the game, can bend and is a very good pass set. What really caught our eye is the way he run blocks. He can really come off the ball and finishes very well. He is a guy we think will come in and help us.”

Peacock attended Baldwin High School in Milledgeville, Ga., prior to his stint in junior college. He also had scholarship offers from Mississippi State, Texas Tech and Arizona, among others, according to Scout.com.
