Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Springdale, Ark., with interment in the Colbaugh Cemetery at Hindsville, Ark., under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home, brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Ark.

• –––––PORTLAND — Jo Ann Ederington Pugh, 81, of Portland, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010. Jo Ann, a native of Warren, was the daughter of Louis and Nettie Wilson Ederington, members of pioneer families of Bradley and Ashley counties. She attended Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and graduated from the University of Colorado. Jo Ann was a resident of Portland for the past 56 years and a member of the Portland United Methodist Church, where she served for many years as a teacher of the women’s Sunday school class. She was a past member and chairperson of the Ashley County Library Board, a former trustee of the Arkansas Historical Association, and a former member of the UAMS Foundation Board. Jo Ann was also an avid reader and bird watcher. She was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Martha Ann Pugh, in 2001; a brother, Louis Wilson Ederington and three sisters, Virginia Crow, Janet Hurley and Helen Baxley. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert D. Pugh, of Portland; daughter, Virginia Pugh de Hernandez and husband Juan Luis, of Madrid, Spain, and daughter Mary Manning and husband Mark, of Bentonville. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Juan and Ana Hernandez, and Jess and Mary Catherine Manning, and many nieces and nephews. The family will be at home in Portland. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m., at the Portland United Methodist Church, with Rev. Terri Lynn Bunnell officiating. Interment will follow at the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Don Arensman, Stephen Hurley, Joel Newcome, John Newcome, John Pugh, Eddie Scherm, Craig Shackelford, and Jesse Turner.
