PINE BLUFF — Winfred Ray “Wimp” Jones, 81, of Pine Bluff died at home Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Born in Pine Bluff May 9, 1929, a son of the late Henry H. and Ruby Pierce Jones, he was a 1947 graduate of Pine Bluff High School. Mr. Jones joined the U.S. Army in 1947, serving in the military police through the Korean conflict. Returning home in 1953, he joined his father in the operation of H.H. Jones & Son Farm, work he continued for 35 years. He also worked with his mother in the operation of Jones Cafe for many years at Noble Lake and later in Pine Bluff from 1985 until retiring as its owner in 2005. According to longtime customers, Jones Cafe was renowned throughout the state and regionally for its fine country menu. The restaurant received many awards over the years for the quality of its food, service and family friendly atmosphere. An avid Razorback fan, he was a member of First United Methodist Church. He served on the boards of directors of what is now Seabrook Family Christian Center, Linwood Schools, Pine Bluff Advertising and Tourist Promotion Commission and National Little League, of which he served as president.

His survivors include his wife, Janice Faucett Jones, to whom he was married Nov. 28, 1953, in Pine Bluff; sons, Randy Jones of Fayetteville, Ark., and Jeff Jones (Ellen) of North Little Rock, Ark.; daughter, Terri Jones Cash (Walter) of Pine Bluff; and grandchildren, Jennifer Jones, Jordin Jones, Justin Jones, Sean Jones, Christopher Cash and Katie Cash.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Fleming officiating. The family will meet friends at the church following the service there.
