BETSY "BONNIE" BURNET, 66, of Little Rock passed away on Thursday,July 30th, 2009. She was born April 10th, 1943, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Burgh and Betsy Burnet, and one sister, Anne Burnet. She is survived by her brother, Andrew Burnet, of Dallas, Texas.

Betsy was a very special person and was very well liked and loved by all who knew her. She was very close to her family at Gain Inc. and at Little Rock Health and Rehab where she was a long time friend and patient.

ALTA JEAN HALL passed away at the age of 82 on August 2nd with herfamily by her side. Alta Jean was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on May 9, 1927, one of two children of Reverend Clyde Gabe Davis and Ruby B. Davis. After graduating from Waldron High School, she attended Ouachita Baptist University,where she graduated in 1947 with a B.S. degree in Science. She dedicated her life to raising her three sons and spending time with her family. She also spent 10 years as the Executive Secretary of the Arkansas Academy of Family Physicians.

In 1983, Alta Jean married the love of her life, Dr. John A. Hall of Clinton, who preceded her in death. They enjoyed many years together traveling the world, entertaining friends and spending time at their lake home, Sugarloaf Dream. Alta Jean is survived by her three sons, Henry H. Good III of Little Rock; Dr. David M. Good of Montrose, Colorado; and Stephen D. Good (Becky) of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Cameron Good, Bryce Good, Beverly Good Oliver and Christopher Good; one great-grandchild, Kylie (also known as "Sugar Dumpling"); as well as her extended family, Sherry and Vincent Henderson Jr. and their three children, Vincent Henderson III, John Henderson and Martha Henderson; and Drs. Dena Hall and Stephen Lapinel.

Alta Jean loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Large family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas were the highlights of her year, especially when grandchildren were added to the equation. Everyone had a favorite dish but no one could cook it quite like Mom/AJ/Meemaw/ Granny. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family would especially like to express their great appreciation for the care given to Alta Jean by her friend Helen Williams and the staff at Presbyterian Village over the last several years and the incredible staff at Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock during her final days.

A memorial service will be held at Pulaski Heights Baptist Church, 2200 Kavanaugh Boulevard in Little Rock at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2009. ELIZABETH "BETTY" KOEHLER, 75, of Sherwood passed away on August2, 2009. Betty was born in Little Rock on August 7, 1933.

Betty graduated from Little Rock High School in 1949. After graduation, she entered the St. Vincent School of Nursing and received her RN degree in 1953. After several years ofworking for St. Vincent Hospital, she started her career with the Arkansas State Health Department. She retired in August of 2007 after 30 years of service. Betty was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of North Little Rock and the Fellowship Sunday School class.

Betty was preceded in death by one son, Kirk William Koehler; one sister, Sara Reinmiller; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Morehead.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Julius C. Koehler; two sons, Kreth J. Koehler of Sherwood and Kerry J. Koehler and his wife, Tiffini of North Little Rock; and one grandson, Colton. She is also survived by one step-daughter, Regina Ann Benezue of Little Rock; and two stepsons, Larry Koehler and wife, Melody of Little Rock, and Julius C. Koehler, II and wife, Jane of Conway; and many step-grandchildren. Betty also leaves behind one sister, Ann Wagner and husband, Ray of Little Rock; and one brother, Jimmy Morehead and wife, Jeanette of Benton, along with many nieces and nephews.

Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed butterflies, angels, and walks in the woods. She was also a fantastic cook and loved preparing meals for the family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home (501-791-7400).

LAURA LEE THOMAS, 96, of North Little Rock, passed away quietly ather home on Friday, July 31, 2009. She was the widow of the late Col. Joseph A. Thomas, USAF first commander of the Little Rock Air Force Base, and is survived by her three children and their spouses, Charles (and Sherrie) Thomas of Houston, Texas, JoAnne (and Don) Cole of Lynchburg, Va., and Shirley (and Charles) Rosenbaum of North Little Rock. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom will very much miss her presence among them. She left them the legacy of kindness to others, strength in times of adversity, and the ability to "find a silver lining in every cloud."

Mrs. Thomas was born January 9, 1913, and grew up near Tappahannock, Va. as the third of five children of Maury Hundley and Laura Lee Carter Hundley.

She attended Lynchburg College and was an outstanding athlete, later recognized in the College's newlyformed Sports Hall of Fame. After her graduation she taught school and coached girls' basketball in Volens, Virginia.

After her marriage to college sweetheart Joe Thomas she lived as a United States Air Force wife in many parts of the U.S. before coming to North Little Rock as the new air base was being built in Jacksonville. Following her husband's death in 1955, she supported her family as a real estate salesperson until 1984.

Mrs. Thomas was very active for 50 years in Park Hill Christian Church, having served in many capacities including many years as teacher of her beloved Builders Sunday school class. For more the 20 years she directed a chorus of female voices, The Cantorias, who performed in the area. She was a member of the LRAFB Officers' Wives Club, Women's City Club, Arkansas Federation of Music Clubs, Aesthetic Club, and Little Rock Musical Coterie.

The family gratefully thanks her kind, faithful caregivers Mary Hicks-Cloird, Aletha Martin, Marcie Pouncy, Becky Batey, Shirley Barnes and the staff of Baptist Hospice. CHARLES LAWSON WARING JR., 84, of Little Rock, passed away Monday, August 3, 2009. He was born February 2, 1925, in Des Arc, Ark., to Charlie Lawson Waring and Effie Finger Waring.

He was loved and will be missed by his wife of 58 years, Juanita Yancey Waring, of Little Rock, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Charles L. Waring, III, and Robert Donald Waring, sisters, Cleo Harrington, Ruth Scott, brothers, Jackson, Glenn and Claude Waring.

He attended U of A and was also a draftsman for Arkansas Foundry. He was a member of the Church at Rock Creek.

There will be a graveside service at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Paul Truett. BRUCE WINN of Little Rock, at the age of 84 died at Good ShepherdNursing Home August 1, 2009. He was the son of the late James A. Winn, head of the V.A. Hospital in North Little Rock, Arkansas, and Marie Hamilton Winn, who was a nurse and dietitian for the V.A. Hospital.

Bruce Winn waseducated at Texas A&M College and graduated after World War II. He haddegrees in aeronautical engineering and mechanical engineering. He served in the Air Force at Edwards Air Force Base where he helped develop the first jet squadron and other air planes used in World War II. He was offered several jobs as engineer for air craft manufacturing plants, but wanted to stay in Arkansas where he was raised. He took a job with Reynolds Metals Co. in Bauxite, Arkansas, as project engineer for 30 years and retired. He went into business with Tommy Walker to form Walk-Winn Plastics and developed moulds for boating accessories. When all theengineering was done he sold out to Tommy Walker and formed Creative Engineering Consultants where he installed and engineered grind mill installations for Humbolt Wiedag. Bruce and Mike Winn, his son, then designed and manufactured their own mill design, which developed into the most energy efficient grinding mill made today. The plant's location is here in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the historical building that manufactured the Climber Automobile and the Command Air Biplane, where Bruce got his first airplane ride which planted the seed to go into aeronautical engineering.

He raised his five sons through the Westover Hills Presbyterian Church and Boy Scout Club of America, in which he was active as Scout Master. He received an award in Scout Leader Training for his work in Scouting.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Phyllis Winn and sons, Mike Winn, wife Jackie, and Steve Winn. He also is survived by two stepsons: Jeremy and wife, Kendal Canada, and Erik Canada, who works at his plant, and a grandson, Keaton Canada, as well as several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by Larry, David, and Bruce Edward Winn, his sons.

He was a member of A.S.M.E. Club, Heights Optimist Club, Who's Who in America and contributor to Humane Society for Animals, Westover Hills Presbyterian Village, and St. Jude Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. All donations should be made in his name to Westover Hills Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.

She was formerly a long time resident of England, Ark. She was born in Delhi, La., on November 9th, 1914 to the late John Franklin Davidson and Estha Davidson Posey. In her youth and early twenties, she did home missionary work with her late sister, Althea Davidson. Iva enjoyed reading, classical music, flying with her husband, and treasured time with her family as a wife,mother and grandmother. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and an active member of the Cosmopolitan Club in England, Ark. for many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Paul J. Capps. She is survived by two sons; Paul D. (Patti) Capps of Sherwood, Ark.; Reginald B. (Martha) Capps of North Little Rock, Ark.; three grandchildren, Paula E. (Randy) Benton of Sherwood, Pamela McAllister (Andy) of Sherwood and Reginald Barry (Natalie) Capps of Little Rock, Ark.; a niece, Carol L. (Charles L) Powers of Conway was also a member of her home and family. A sister, Zula Jones of Vicksburg, Miss., and a brother, Alva Dewey Davidson of Lawrence, Kan. also survive her death. She leaves four great-grand children and two great-great-grandchildren.

Prior to moving to Sherwood, Ark., she attended the First Baptist Church at England, Ark.

A closed casket, graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 4th at 1:30 p.m. at Griffin Leggett, Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Road, NLR, Ark. The reverend Robert W. McDaniel of Conway will conduct the burial service.

HUMPHREY - Robert Bumpous Jr., 77, died Sunday at his home. He was born May 3, 1932, in Union Hill, Ark., to Robert Bumpous Sr. and Jenny Davidson Bumpous. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a farmer and Baptist.

SLIDELL, La. - Charles Robert "Bob" Wilkin, 77, of Slidell, Louisianapassed away peacefully at home on July 30th from cancer. He was the beloved husband of the late Elsie Ann (Brown) Wilkin, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle and friend. Bob was born October 14, 1931, in Hope, Arkansas, to Charles'Charlie' and Dorothy (Rumph) Wilkin. He graduated from Brinkley (Ark.) High School in 1949 as the class valedictorian and attended Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., where he played football. He graduated from Auburn University in 1953, with a degree in Construction Management, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Upon graduation he earned his MBA from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania in 1955. He then served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp where he made many lifelong friends.

In October 1958 he met Elsie Ann Brown of Grand Forks, N.D., and on Feb. 13, 1960, they were married in New York City. After a brief honeymoon in Lake Placid and Montreal, the newlyweds were off to Middletown, Conn., where Bob began his career with M.W. Kellogg. His career led him to Dallas, Texas, where his children were born and where he worked as a controller for several small companies. In 1971 he got the opportunity to move closer to home and accepted a job with the maker of Rebel Lures in Fort Smith, Ark. In 1974 Bob chasedhis dream and bought Catalina Industries, a small company near Arkadelphia, Ark., which manufactured house boats and party barges. In 1977, he moved to South Louisiana where he worked as a controller in New Orleans and he and his family settled in Slidell. Since 1984 Bob has been engaged in several entrepreneurial and real estate investing endeavors and, until recently, a very active role in his realestate interests.

Bob was a CPA and was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge #2321, Slidell Computer Club and New Orleans Real Estate Investors Association. He was a longtime member of Christ Episcopal Church in Slidell where he was a member of the choir, and was most recently a member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Picayune, Miss., where he served on the vestry. He enjoyed politics, collecting antique tools, old books, genealogy, traveling, reading and learning with his 12 grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and Elsie Ann, his wife of 48 years (and sweetheart of 50). He is survived by his four children, Eric Wilkin and wife Kelli of Panama City, Fla., Kari Spencer and husband John of Slidell, La., Rolf Wilkin and wife Ceri of Fayetteville, Ark., and Kurt Wilkin and wife Carrie of Austin, Texas; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Modisett and husband John of Chapel Hill, N.C.; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, Evan, Andrew, Daniel, Matthew, Stephen and Mary Spencer of Slidell, La., Joe, Elise and Max Wilkin of Fayetteville, Ark., and Luke, Brady and Bennett Wilkin of Austin, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Picayune, Miss. He will be buried next to his beloved Elsie Ann at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, during a burial ceremony at the Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark., under the direction of Moore's Chapel.

ARLINGTON, Texas - Don E. Hansen, 87, passed away August 1, 2009.Cryptside Service was 4 p.m., Monday, at Greenwood Mausoleum. Don Eugene Hansen was born July 20, 1922, in Almyra, Ark., to Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Hansen, along with three brothers and one sister. He graduated from StuttgartHigh School in 1942 and then enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served as a bomber pilot until the end of war in 1945. He returned home, working with his father for a couple of years before heading to college wherehe attended Arkansas Tech for two years, then went on to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He graduated in 1953, with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, joining an oil field company in 1953, traveling for a couple of years. Then he went to Tulsa, Okla., as a sales service engineer until 1954, when he came to Dallas-Fort Worth area. He lived and worked in different places from the Corps of Engineers to NASA, where he was fortunate to be part of many projects to get a man on the moon in the 1960s. The setting of a lunar plane was his most cherished achievement, with astronauts' moon landing on his birthday, July 20, 1969. He retired from the civil service in 1982 and was proud to be a member of the Masonic Order, doing things to help others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Hansen; first wife, Mary Lloyd Hansen; second wife, Donna Marie Hansen; brother, Ford C. Hansen; step-great-grandsons, Kyle Ray Ogdie and Alexander Sheppard; and nephew, James Fredrick Hansen. Survivors: brothers, Harold L. Hansen and Floyd R. Hansen; sister, Faye A. Hansen Householder; stepchildren, Linda Hildebrand, Randy Thomas, Rob Thomas, Keith Thomas, and Jim Hutchins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
