Police: Woman Poured Grease On Man’s Face

SPRINGDALE — A woman faces a felony charge after police said he poured hot grease on her boyfriend’s face.

Police arrested Marla Watson, 53, of 1603 Azalea Circle Drive in Springdale in connection with felony second-degree battery.

Officers were called to Watson’s home about 12:18 a.m. Saturday for a disturbance, according to an arrest report.

Police found Bernard Hughes, 53, sitting on a couch with severe burns to his face.

Watson said she and Hughes got into an argument and she “couldn’t take it anymore,” police said.

According to detectives, Watson was warming up some grease on the stove to make stir fry.

She walked over to Hughes, who was lying on the couch, and poured the grease on his face.

Watson was in the Washington County Detention Center on $3,500 bond Saturday.
