— 1st QuarterARKANSAS 7, JACKSONVILLE STATE 7

Arkansas reached the Jacksonville State 26 on the first series, but Tyler Wilson lost the ball without contact and linebacker Rashad Smith returned the fumble 49 yards to the Hogs 24. The Gamecocks couldn’t move and Byran Jones blocked their 37-yard field-goal attempt. Knile Davis ran for 31 yards and Wilson was 4 for 5 for 53 yards as Arkansas drove for a touchdown. The Razorbacks forced third-and-long, but Marques Ivory threw a 31-yard pass to Alan Bonner, one of three third-down conversions on Jacksonville State’s tying scoring drive. The score came on second-and-goal from the 19 on a dump pass in the left flat to running back DaMarcus James.

2nd QuarterARKANSAS 28, JACKSONVILLE STATE 14

Chris Gragg had the ball ripped out on a short reception on the quarter’s first play, and the Gamecocks capitalized with a go-ahead touchdown. The Hogs took over with four touchdowns on their next 19 snaps. Gragg caught two scoring passes from Tyler Wilson, then Ronnie Wingo and Knile Davis scored from the 3 and 5, respectively.

Arkansas averaged 11.7 yards per play on its four touchdown drives in the quarter. Chris Smith and Byran Jones brought defensive pressure as the Hogs stopped three series in a row. But the Gamecocks converted a third-and-15 in their two-minute drill and scored on a scrambling Marques Ivory 7-yard pass to Alan Bonner with eight seconds left.

3rd QuarterARKANSAS 49, JACKSONVILLE STATE 24

Arkansas looked to have Jacksonville State pinned back with Dylan Breeding’s 56-yard punt, but a procedure call nullified the booming punt and Breeding followed with a 17-yard shank. Jacksonville drove 16 yards for a field goal. Tyler Wilson had time to deliver a 63-yard scoring pass to Javontee Herndon, and a couple of series later - after Rohan Gaines’ hit caused a fumble recovered by Alonzo Highsmith - Wilson’s 40-yard throw to Brandon Mitchell preceded a 9-yard touchdown run by Dennis Johnson.

Jacksonville State’s ground game churned out 50 yards on a sequence of four plays, its best effort of the night, just before the quarter ended.

4th QuarterARKANSAS 49, JACKSONVILLE STATE 24

Neither team could mount much of a drive, with both failing on fourth-down chances in their opponents’ territory.

The quarter began on Chris Smith’s 12-yard sack of Marques Ivory, the Razorbacks’ first sack. The Razorbacks advanced into Jacksonville State territory, but Ronnie Wingo fumbled at the Gamecocks’ 40 after a solid run. Brandon Allen made his debut at quarterback on that series, hitting Javontee Herndon with an 8-yard pass on his first attempt. True freshman Jonathan Williams entered on the final series and had a 1-yard carry.
