Sales tax revenue up in Fayetteville, Rogers, Bentonville

Three of the four major cities in Washington and Benton counties received higher sales tax revenue this month compared to the same period last year.

Bentonville, Rogers and Fayetteville were up while Springdale slipped behind.

Sales tax revenue reported in May reflects March tax collected in April. Comparisons are based on collections from the same month in the previous year.

Each city, with the exception of Bella Vista, collects a 2 percent sales tax. One percent is devoted to repayment of bonds. The other 1 percent goes into each city’s general fund and is available for operations. For the purpose of this report, Northwest Arkansas Newspapers tracks the 1 percent going into the general funds.
