ATHENS, Ga. — Arkansas forward Michael Sanchez might be out for a while after sustaining a severe shoulder injury Wednesday in the second half of the Razorbacks’ 81-59 loss at Georgia. Sanchez hit the floor on his right shoulder, came to the bench in obvious pain and quickly headed to the locker room with trainer Dave England. No decision yet on filing Dyer waiver
LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas State Coach Gus Malzahn said Wednesday the program hasn’t decided whether to file a personal hardship waiver with the NCAA on behalf of Michael Dyer that, if granted, would allow the running back to play this coming season. Dyer, a Little Rock native, transferred Jan. 10 from Auburn to ASU and would have to sit out the 2012 season under NCAA rules if he isn’t granted a waiver. He was released from his Auburn scholarship Jan. 6. He left Auburn after he was suspended indefinitely Dec. 11 for an undisclosed violation of team rules and missed the Tigers’ 43-24 victory against Virginia in the Chickfil-A Bowl on Dec. 31. “We really haven’t moved that far to get to that point,” Malzahn said. “After we have time to think through the situation, if there’s a legitimate need, we’ll look into that.
