Kenneth Houston Hawes

Kenneth Houston Hawes passed over to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 14 at the Circle of Life Hospice at Legacy Village in Bentonville. He succumbed to colon cancer after fighting it for 3 1/2 years. He was a Baptist, born, May 25, 1931 to Robert Houston and Kate Jordon Hawes in Munday, Texas. They moved to Little Flock, Arkansas in 1938. Kenneth graduated from Rogers High School in 1952 and was immediately drafted into the U.S Army where he served two years during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany for eight months. After coming out of the Army, Kenneth did survey out West for several years. He managed Hornor's Tire (later called Northwest Tire Service) in Springdale for eleven years. He purchased the business in 1974, and later purchased Northwest Tire Service in Rogers. He was active in his business until 2013, when he became unable to work, due to his illness growing worse. He met the love of his life, Ann (Annabelle) McDougal in 1957 and married her eight months later. They were married for 59 years, on August 31, 2016. Kenneth and Ann moved to Little Flock, Arkansas in 1962, to the place where he was raised. He loved viewing good cattle, and they developed a good herd of Limousin Cattle. They sold their herd and land in the fall of 2004. He is survived by his wife of the home; son, Barry Hawes and Sherrie of Fayetteville; two daughters, Deborah Bilderback and Sidney, and Elizabeth Doublehead, both of Gravette; brother, Billy Hawes and Leota of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Brekke Autry and Derrick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kyle Bilderback of Springdale and Dillon Doublehead of Gravette; and two great-grandchildren, Remington and Lou-Lou Autry. Kenneth was known for his big smile and his willingness to help out a fellow man. He never forgot where he came from. A visitation will be on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 12-2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Olive St. location, with a service following at 2 p.m. Dr. Wes George will officiate.
