Billy Bob Williams, 83, of Fort Smith passed from this life September 11, 2016 in Fort Smith. He was active in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 based in Pensacola and Key West Florida. He then worked for the Automotive Incorporated in Fort Smith, Curtis 1000 and later self-employed with Tri-State envelopes before retiring. He had a passion for softball which he developed while serving in the Navy and later escalated that passion to coach troubled teens in youth softball in the 70's and 80's. Bill was a past president of the Ft. Smith Jaycees, served on the Sebastian County Quorum Court and most recently served on the Ft. Smith Park Commission. He is survived by his wife Ruth and her children, Angela, Scott, & Stephen, his grandson Brooks, his son, Danny and his wife Connie and their daughter, Shelby, Danny's Mother Phanita, sister-in-law, Janie Glover, and niece Sara Latta. Lisa Williams, his daughter preceded his passing in 1973. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 at First Lutheran Church in Fort Smith with a reception to follow. A private family graveside will be held at an earlier time at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith with United States Navy honors. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Stanton, Jim Erke, Joey Hayes, Dale Duerr, Bill Hoffman John Ayers Bennie Westphal and Stephan Vennum.
