Chaplain Dean Everett Newberry Jr. stepped into the presence of the Lord on October 11, 2016. He was born October 20, 1925 in DeQueen, Ark., to the late Dean Newberry, Sr. and Ruth (Herring) Newberry. Dean is a graduate of De Queen High School, Ouachita Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He pastored churches for over 60 years including 12 years at First Baptist Church, Rogers, and interim at First Baptist Church, Lowell, and 10 years at Whitney Mountain Chapel. He served as chaplain at Hudson Foods for 17 years and chaplain at Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas for 10 years. Dean served his country in the US Air Force during WWII. He loved his precious Jeanne fiercely, was devoted to his family and served the Lord faithfully. He lived to serve the Lord to see people come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jeanne Hampton Newberry; three sons, Gary (Joy) of Centerton, Richard (Dotti) of Springdale, Phillip (Jeanne) of Memphis, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to Noon, with services beginning at Noon, on Friday, October 14, 2016, at the Rogers First Baptist Church Pleasant Grove Campus. Private interment will be in Rogers Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Global Missions Fund at the First Baptist Church, Rogers - 3364 W.
