Clarabell "Clara" Smith

Clarabell "Clara" Smith, 80, of Elkins passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 at her home. She was born November 20, 1935 in Thayer, MO. to Silas and Minnie Braden Madden. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. Clara was also a Cub Scout Den Leader and a former employee of Walmart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee T. Smith; and three brothers, Cleo, Clyde and Carroll Madden. Clara is survived by a son, Bruce Smith and wife, Mavis of Elkins; daughters, Katherine Penrod and husband, Kevin of Elkins; and Mary Lee Welter of Elkins; a brother, Clarence Burton Madden and wife, Rose of Thayer, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the Durham Freewill Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Henshaw officiating. Interment will follow in Patrick Cemetery under the direction of Beard's Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the funeral home.
