Gene Phillips

Gene Phillips, 75 of Elkins, Ark. passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in Fayetteville. He was born September 14, 1940 in Prairie Grove, Ark. to Homer C. Phillips and Ethel L. (Grant) Phillips. He was a retired police officer for the City of Fayetteville serving the city for 21 years. After retirement he became a bailiff for Washington County Sheriff's Department working another 15 years. He was a member of Christian Life Cathedral in Fayetteville. He is survived by his wife, Sue Phillips, one daughter, Donna Cosby and husband Steve of Fayetteville, AR, and two grandchildren, Grant Cosby and fiance' Olivia VanLanen of Holly Ridge, N.C. and Morgan Cosby of Fayetteville. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 6th from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A Celebration of Gene's life will be held 1 p.m., Monday March 7th at Christian Life Cathedral in Fayetteville with Pastors C.L. "Red" Dixon and Steve Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery in the Whitehouse Community.
