Barbara Ann Kapke

Barbara Ann Kapke, passed away May 30, 2016 at her home surrounded by her husband and children. Barbara was born March 29, 1932 to Roger and Helen (Overholt) Lodwick in Chicago, Ill. She graduated from Chicago public schools and later worked as a production manager for Benjamin Moore Paint Company. In July 1952 Barbara married Robert Kapke. Upon his graduation from Bradley University, they moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Together they spent 26 years in the US Air Force. They had tours in Newfoundland, Massachusetts, Illinois, Mississippi, Alaska, Washington DC and Colorado. They retired to Bella Vista in 1989. Together they had six children: Robert B. and wife Julie of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter, Lynn Clay and husband Scott of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter, Gail Davis of Bella Vista; son, Kenneth and wife Susan of Braidwood, Ill.; daughter, Lisa Harden and husband Randy of Bella Vista, and son, Richard of Kansas City. Barbara has 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. After their retirement from Colorado, Barb and Bob made many wonderful trips in their motor home. They visited Alaska fourteen times and most other states at least once. Barb was an avid bowler. She also enjoyed summer golf, swimming, bridge, canasta, and sewing. When the children were small Barb made most of their dress and play outfits. While in Bella Vista, Barb enjoyed gardening and spent hours with her flowers. Barb was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard. Barb will be missed by both family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Highlands Church, 371 Glasgow Road in Bella Vista on June 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to BV Animal Shelter, 32 Bella Vista Way, Bella Vista, Ark. 72714, the Highland Church Building Fund or the Highland Church Youth Group.
