Blendene Era Burkett, 77, of Neosho, Mo. and longtime resident of Rogers, Ark., passed away Thursday, July 28. She was born July 1, 1939 to the late Thomas Owen Mac Mays and Nancy Abagail Holland Mays in Wayton, Ark. Sewing, reading, and attending church brought her great joy. Prior to retirement, she was a seamstress and also a cook for Rogers Public Schools. For nearly 41 years, she was the loving wife of Golden Burkett who preceded her. She was also preceded by her parents; a sister, Palma Mays; and brothers: Charlie, Virgil, Hurston, Owen, and Travis Mays. Survivors include a brother, Kenneth Mays (Frances) of Kansas; two sisters, Leona Hampton of Fayetteville, Ark. and Christine Bernard Soloman of Neosho, Mo., along with numerous nieces, nephews, dear friends and her church family. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 1 in the Chapel of Rollins Funeral Home and family will receive friends from 10:00. Interment will follow in Tucks Chapel Cemetery near Rogers.
