Richard D. "Dick" Hutcherson

Richard D. "Dick" Hutcherson, 83, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Feb. 27, 2016 at Circle of Life, Legacy Village in Bentonville, Ark. after a long battle with Wegener's Disease. He was born Oct. 1, 1932 in Leona, Kan. to Samuel and Agnes Hutcherson. Dick graduated from Troy High School in 1950 and attended Highland Community College. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean War, belonged to the Masonic Lodge #55 of Troy, Kan., the Arab Shrine of Topeka, Kan., and a member of the Kansas Police Officers Association. He was a retired Captain of the Kansas Highway Patrol and retired Director of Security of the Kansas Lottery. Dick and his wife, Jan moved to Bella Vista in 1998 to spend their retired years playing golf. On Sept. 28, 2007, Dick got his one and only hole-in-one on Hole #10 at Kingswood Golf Course, a par 3, 125 yards with a 9 iron. He was a former member of The Legends Golf Group and the Sodbusters Golf Group. Dick and Jan immediately became active members of United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Sarah Anno. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jan of the home; two daughters, Deana Haslett (Steve) of Topeka, Kan., Kim Anno (Rick) of Topeka, Kan.; one stepdaughter, Sue Cowan (Dwight) of Topeka, Kan.; two stepsons, Bob Boldra (Jodi) of Kalkaska, Mich., Carl Boldra (Libby) of Neodesha, Kan.; one brother, Bob Hutcherson (Fay) of Surprise, Ariz.; nine grandchildren: Jeff Anno (Heather) of Topeka, Kan., Brett Boldra (Sami) of Sabetha, Kan., Blake Boldra (Kelsey) of Sabetha, Kan., Brock Boldra (Jackie) of Morrill, Kan., Brody Boldra of Kalkaska, Mich., Paige Blann (Wylie) of Neodesha, Kan., Taylor Giger of Bartlesville, Okla., Kristen Haslett of Topeka, Kan., Alicia Carter (Nate) of Topeka, Kan.; and 12 great-grandchildren. A Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. with a Memorial Service following at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista, AR 72715. Pastor Nelson will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista, AR 72715; Arab Shrine, 1305 S. Kansas, Topeka, KS 66612; and to Circle of Life Hospice Home at Legacy Village, 1201 NE Legacy Parkway, Bentonville, AR 72712.
