Jerrell Upshaw

Jerrell Upshaw passed away Feb. 20, 2016. He was married to Barbara Upshaw, the love of his life, for 46 years. Jerrell was born in Huntsville, Ark. on Sept. 21, 1941. He was blessed with two loving parents, Earl and Ruby Upshaw. Jerrell graduated from Springdale High School in 1959. Jerrell was very outgoing and loved the challenge of a new adventure. He once skied slalom (62 miles non-stop) from Blue Springs by 412 bridge to Beaver Dam. He loved sky diving and anything to do with the outdoors. Most of all, he loved the Lord and he put God first in his life. Jerrell worked for Springdale Farms and the Freezing Store early on in life, then eventually going to Scott Paper Company in 1977 where he was employed for over 20 years and eventually transferring in Bowling Green, Ky. where he commuted back and forth until he eventually retired. Jerrell Upshaw was preceded in death by his father, Earl Upshaw and his two sons, Rudyard Kevin Upshaw and Richard Kent Upshaw. Jerrell is survived by his wife, Barbara Upshaw of Rogers, Ark.; mother, Ruby E. Upshaw of Springdale, Ark.; two sons, Rudy Upshaw and wife, Patricia of Bixby, Okla., Mark Upshaw and wife, Tricia of Lowell, Ark.; five grandchildren: Josh Upshaw, Cody Upshaw, Dustin Upshaw, Taylor Upshaw, and Olivia Upshaw; brother, Earl Upshaw and wife, Barbara of Spokane, Wash.; and a host of family and friends. Jerrell was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will live on in our hearts forever. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 22 at Nelson Berna Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016 at the chapel of Nelson Berna Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Nickel Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Berna Funeral Home.
