On the afternoon of September 26, Elvin Earl Slaughter, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home after a long battle with cancer and heart disease. He loved old cars, working in the yard, and the outdoors. He was born in Wharton, Texas and served four years in the US Air Force in Wichita, Kan. before moving to Rogers. He retired from RTW in Rogers after 25 years. Elvin was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Brumlow and his father, Elvin Ollie Slaughter. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Slaughter; three children: Elvin Slaughter, Jr., Karen Edgeworth, and Edward Slaughter of Rogers; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Slaughter of San Antonio; and two sisters: Betty Slaughter of Dallas and Billie Wade of Houston.
