Maj. Edward Lee Knox

Maj. Edward Lee Knox, 78, of Bentonville, Ark., a retired USAF Veteran, passed from this life into eternal glory in Bentonville, Ark. at Circle of Life Legacy Village, Friday, March 6, 2015. He was born in Wewoka, Okla. on Jan. 2, 1937 to Ray B. and Retha Wooldridge Knox. He was an All-State Athlete for Bentonville High School, graduating with the Class of 1955. He attended the University of Arkansas and Ouachita Baptist University, before entering the Air Force Cadet program. He graduated in 1959 and married Jennie Crouse in the Chapel at First Baptist Church in Bentonville. Maj. Knox flew the F106, F100, and F4 Fighter Planes, serving time in South Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand. He retired to Bentonville and has enjoyed backpacking the mountains of Colorado, the Buffalo River, and Beaver Lake. The focus in all he did was for the Lord and what he could do for others. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jennie; daughter, Barbara Knox (Jim) Pennell of Marquette, Mich.; son, Joel (Melissa) of Grove, Okla.; granddaughters-Lydia (Andy) Adams of Detroit, Mich., Morgan Knox and Kendall Knox of Grove, Okla.; grandsons, Aaron Clemins (Ashley), Phil Pennell (Britta) of Marquette, Mich., Zachary and Zane Knox of Grove, Okla; two brothers, Ray (Karen) Knox of Bella Vista, Ark. and Al and Jane Knox of Prairie Creek, Ark. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Bentonville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Bentonville with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Private burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwasse, Ark. with full military honors. Memorials may be made in honor of Maj. Edward Knox to the Alzheimer's Association, 1732 Moberly Lane, Suite B, Bentonville, Ark. 72712.
