Edna May Barker, age 93, of Elm Springs, died March 3, 2015, at The Maples at Har-Ber Meadows. She was born May 14, 1921, in Elm Springs, Arkansas, the daughter of Amos Henry and Edna Pyatt Snavely. Mrs. Barker was a member of the Elm Springs United Methodist Church where she also sang in the choir and was a member of the Elm Springs United Methodist Church Quilters Club. She served on the Elm Springs Cemetery Board for fifty years and checked on the cemetery on a weekly basis. She was a graduate of the Elm Springs High School and played on the Elm Springs Championship Basketball team in 1938. She worked for a number of years in the catalog department and the children's department at Sears. She liked to grow flowers and have a vegetable garden and loved to visit with her neighbors and friends. Mrs. Barker is preceded by her parents; her husband of 46 years, James Hugh Barker, who died in 1986; one infant son, Gary; and nine siblings. She is survived by two daughters: Janna Casey and her husband, Clifford, of Elm Springs and Sherry Patton and her husband, Jerry, of Fayetteville; two grandsons: Todd Casey and his wife, Lisa, and Matt Casey and his wife, Michelle; two granddaughters: Jill Waruszewski and her husband, Kevin, and Paige Hargis and her husband, Jerod; seven great-grandchildren: Katie Casey, Joel Casey, Caleb Casey, Drew Casey, Emma Casey, Chase Hargis and Austin Waruszewski. Visitation will be Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, March 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Elm Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Dixon Platt, Rev. Carl Palmer and Rev. Glynn Trusty officiating under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elm Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Casey, Matt Casey, Jerod Hargis, Kevin Waruszewski, Tim Nelson and Gary Downum. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joel Casey, Caleb Casey, Drew Casey, Ralph Jackson and David Casey.
