Sonya Knight David

Mrs. Sonya Knight (Davis) died peacefully on Dec. 27, 2014, in Fayetteville, Ark., at the age of 44 after a battle with cancer. Sonya is survived by her mother, Bobbie Wahler of Flippin, Ark.; husband, Josh Purcell of Prairie Grove, Ark.; son Michael and Chynell Hudson of Harrison, Ark.; sisters Lori Davis and family of Green Forest, Ark., and Mandy Myers and family of Edwards, Mo. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Hobart and Mary Davis of Harrison, Ark.; Jesse Thomas "JT" and Verna Gass of Harrison; father Jimmy "Red" Davis of Harrison, Ark., and stepfather, John "BJ" Wahler of Bull Shoals, Ark. Sonya was born on March 19, 1970, in Bakersfield, Calif. After dating Josh for five years, they married in 2013. She also graduated from Northwest Arkansas Community College in 2013 with an Associate of Applied Science Criminal Justice. Sonya worked for Walmart in Asset Protection. Her dedication was a driving factor to excel in all that she did. Sonya was a generous and caring individual who loved animals, especially dogs. Her passion for saving them led to many rescues and fosters. No funeral is scheduled, as she wished to be cremated and spread privately. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Humane Society of the United States or any animal rescue organization. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Willard Walker Hospice Home for their care and dedication.
