Calvin Randal Berry, 86, passed away on Dec. 28, 2014, at his home in Butterfield Trail Village Health Care Center. He was born on June 5, 1928, near Conway, Ark., in a little settlement lovingly called "Berry Gap" by his family. In 1946, he left home to enter the Air Force, and served stateside in the Post-War Reconstruction effort until the beginning of the Korean War. He was a professor of agricultural economics at the University of Arkansas, with a specialty in milk marketing. He was a loving father, totally dedicated to his family, but in his spare time, he did enjoy hunting quail, training and breeding his bird dogs, and fishing, and even a little gardening. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Miller of Rogers and her husband, Joseph, and their three children, Aaron, Amy and Allison. He is also survived by a nephew, James and his wife, Edna Grace, of Little Rock; a niece, Karen Wheeler of Wood River, Ill.; a niece, Mary Melton of Vilonia; and a niece and nephew, Georgia Jackson and Darren Berry of Australia. A graveside service was held on Saturday, Jan. 3, at 1 p.m. He is reunited with his loving wife, Martha Berry of 63 years, who passed October of 2013.
