Martha Elizabeth Cubbins Neece Granger

Martha Elizabeth Cubbins Neece Granger, age 94, of Farmington passed away Sunday June 28, 2015. She was born May 12, 1921 in Memphis, Tenn. to Thomas Douglas Cubbins Sr. and Electa Kimberlin Cubbins. Martha Granger was a 1939 graduate of Little Rock High School in Little Rock. She attended business school and was a certified accountant. During her business career, she was employed by the Marine Corp in Norfolk, Va. as a fiscal department manager. Prior to settling permanently in the Northwest Arkansas area, she lived in Conway from 1970 to 1977 where she worked as a secretary for different departments at the then State College of Arkansas Conway and was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She was a Farmington resident for almost 40 years. She worked as an administrative assistant in the Engineering Department at the University of Arkansas, from 1977 until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville and, after retirement from the university, was a regular volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Even before being in two military marriages during wartime, Mrs. Granger traveled and lived in many different parts of the United States, including Los Angeles, Calif., Norfolk, Va., Washington, D.C., Camp Lejeune, N.C. and Hawaii. She was living in McAllen, Texas before returning in 1970 to the Little Rock area to be closer to her parents and other family. She was widely known throughout her life as an excellent cook and hostess. Martha Granger was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mary G. Palmer, and her nephew Stephen Palmer. She is survived by her daughter, Victoria Elizabeth Granger-Kimberlin of New York, N.Y./Fayetteville, Ark.; sister, Carolyn Starr of Edmonds, Wash;; brother, Thomas Cubbins Jr. of Largo, Fla;; by nephew, Eddie Palmer Jr. (Fayetteville); nieces Elaine Cubbins (Arizona), Lisa Cubbins (Washington), nephew Thomas Cubbins, III (Washington), Linda (Palmer) Shafer (Fayetteville), and Carol Beth (Starr) Tesdahl (Washington), and all their children who fondly remember Martha as "Aunt Liz." Her ashes will be interred at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. As previously noted, Mrs. Granger was a dedicated volunteer for the American Cancer Society, as well as a breast cancer survivor later in her senior years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in honor of Mrs. Granger to the American Cancer Society and/or to Hope Cancer Resources (http://hopecancerresources.org) of Fayetteville.
