Eugenia Ellenor White Edmonds of Fayetteville, Arkansas, died on April 8, 2015. Mrs. Edmonds was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on June 12, 1916, to Warwick Cameron White and Lois Annie Belle Alexander White. Beginning at the age of 14 years, she attended boarding school at John Brown in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She received a B.S. in Education from George Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee, and a M.S. in Physical Education from the University of Texas. She met Byron Priestly Edmonds in 1940 when she was teaching in Kingsville, Texas, and he was seismographing for oil on the King Ranch. They married in 1941. After their children were born, they lived for extended periods of time in Carlsbad, New Mexico; Alice, Texas; Regina, Saskatchewan; and Denver, Colorado, where Byron Edmonds worked as a mining engineer in the potash industry. After her husband retired, they moved to Springdale, Arkansas. In 2001, she moved to Butterfield Trail Village in Fayetteville, Arkansas. During the course of her life, Mrs. Edmonds occasionally taught physical education and volunteered for various professional and social services organizations. She also led Bible study classes in Springdale for several years. She loved to snow ski, swim, golf, travel, and read, and she loved dogs—often more than her kids, which may have been understandable. A devout Baptist, she attended Sunday School at the First Baptist Church of Springdale, Arkansas. Mr. Edmonds died in Springdale, Arkansas in 1998. Mr. and Mrs. Edmonds had three children, who survived them: Eugenia Lois Flickinger (Mrs. Jerry M.) of Prescott Valley, Arizona; Elizabeth Ann Edmonds of Bethesda, Maryland; and Byron P. Edmonds (Vallerie) of Xenia, Ohio. Mrs. Edmonds also is survived by five (5) grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and five (5) great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Edmonds' brother, Alexander Cameron White, also predeceased her. Graveside services will be held 12:30 p.m., Friday, April 10th at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale, Ark. In lieu of flowers memorials contributions may be made to Build Your House on a Rock, P.O. Box 12764, Lake Charles, La. 70612-2764 or The Salvation Army Chapter of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home and Crematory of Fayetteville.
