Bernice F. Burris

Bernice F. Burris, 85, of Fayetteville died Sept. 25, 2014, in Fayetteville. She was born May 11, 1929, in Collinsville, Okla., to Hugh F. and Lucy Nichols Patton. She retired after over 40 years as a hairdresser. Bernice was a member of Buckner Baptist Church, and she enjoyed fishing, knitting, quilting and reading. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Gene Burris. She is survived by son, Doug Tipton and wife, Cynthia, of Waxahachie, Texas; two stepdaughters, C.J. Burris and Jeanie Burris, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Lue Bell of Elkins; daughter-in-law, Nancy McCain and husband, Gus, of Tulsa, Okla.; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Reed, Alexandria Clouse, Lauren Sons, John McCain and Mark McCain; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at Buckner Baptist Church in Fayetteville, with the Rev. Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, under the direction of Beard's Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Buckner Baptist Church.
