Albert Ray "A.R." Estes Jr., 81, of Bentonville, Ark., passed away Friday, Sept. 19, 2014. He was born May 1, 1933, in Batesville, Ark., to Albert Ray Estes Sr. and Ida Mary Frances Heasley Estes. A.R. graduated from Calico Rock High School in 1952. He attended the University of Arkansas and transferred to Little Rock, Ark., to complete his degree in pharmacy. He was a member of Kappa Psi fraternity. He worked as a pharmacist at Palace Drug Store in Fayetteville. He served in the United States Army, and was stationed in Iceland and various bases throughout the United States. A.R., together with his wife, Glynda, joined her parents, Carl and Emma Hutchens, in farming the Hutchens-Estes family farm which twice received the award "Farm Family of the Year." A.R. was a hard worker, and a faithful husband, father and friend. A.R. married the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Glynda Vestal Hutchens Estes, on July 15, 1956, at the Vaughn Presbyterian Church. Together they raised a family, pursued many interests including extensive genealogy research, traveling and enjoyed spending time with their many friends. He was preceded in death by the wife to whom he was devoted, Glynda Vestal Estes in December 2012; one daughter, Karyn Dale Estes; one son, David Gregory Estes; and four brothers, Coy, Charlie, H.D. and Loyd Estes. A.R. is survived by one daughter, Gerre Denise Estes; two grandchildren, Daniel Gregory Estes and Joy Ruth Estes, and their mother, Jerrese Fancher and husband, James, of Bentonville; one brother, Lynn Estes Sr. and wife, Betty, of Natchitoches, La.; one sister, Lucy Rae Wilson and husband, Donald, of Chanute, Kan.; and three sisters-in-law, Lorene Estes of Avery, Texas, Clurcy Estes of Shreveport, La., Billie Estes of Batesville, Ark.; and many dear friends. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Vaughn Presbyterian Church, with Lynn Brown, Pastor Ron Fields and Chaplain Jo Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made in honor of A.R. Estes to Circle of Life Hospice, Arkansas Children's Hospital, Vaughn Presbyterian Church or Temple Baptist Church of Rogers.
