Alma M. Rodgers

Alma M. Rodgers, 82, of Springdale, Ark., passed away on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at her daughter's home in West Fork, Ark. Mrs. Rodgers was born Feb. 21, 1932, in Paulding County, Ga.; she was the daughter of Jess and Hattie Walker. Alma married Howard Rodgers on June 3, 1955, in Cartersville, Ga. During her life, Alma had worked in a typing pool for Sears & Roebuck, she worked on a farm and for 21 years worked on an assembly line for Emerson Electric in Rogers, Ark. Survivors include four children, Alan Rodgers and wife, JoAnn, Greenwood, Ark., Larry Rodgers and wife, Debbie, West Fork, Ark., John Rodgers and wife, Kay, Lowell, Ark., Sherry Rodgers-Crow and husband, Wayne, West Fork, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Turner, Hiram, Ga. Alma is survived by many friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Hattie; husband, Howard; three brothers, Nay Walker, BJ Walker and Houston Walker; two sisters, Thelma Chasteen and Lucille Osborne. The visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, from noon to 1 p.m. The funeral will be held at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at 1 p.m. Pastor Randy Miller will officiate the service. Burial will be held at the Weddington Cemetery, under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, Ark. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
