Wallace Roger Kerr

Wallace Roger (Wally) Kerr went to be with his Lord on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014 in his home in Berryville with his loved ones by his bedside. Wally was born April 25, 1934 in North Little Rock, Ark., the son of Gerald V. and Mary Rema (Scarbrough) Kerr. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janice Kinser Kerr. They met in the eighth grade at Fourth St. Jr. High School in North Little Rock and were married July 11, 1952 at 47th St. Baptist Church in North Little Rock by Rev. R.D. Harrington. Wally was a member of Southern Heights Baptist Church in Berryville. He loved his church and his Lord above all, spending time with his family, going to yard sales, walking, crossword puzzles, playing pitch and dominoes. He was a police officer at North Little Rock Police Department for 24 years, retiring July 1, 1980 as assistant chief. He then worked as a deputy for the Searcy County Sheriff's Office. He and Janice owned Ma Brown's Antique Store in Green Forest from 1985-2002. Wally is survived by his wife; his daughter, Valerie Blume and husband Kris of Liberty, Mo.; three sons, Michael Kerr of Mayflower, Ark., Danny Kerr and wife Linda of Sherwood, Ark. and Timothy Roger Kerr of Liberty, Mo.; two brothers, Randolph Kerr of North Little Rock and Raymond Kerr and wife Diane of Conway; grandchildren, Stephanie Bartley of Carlisle, Ark., Shelly and husband Clayton Yarnell of Hazen, Ark., Meagan Kerr of Slovak and Mandy Kerr of Humnoke, Ark., Jacob and Kurtis Blume of Independence, Mo., great-grandchildren, Savannah, Mason, Addie, Kolton, Mila, Brayden, Alexis and Dawson and a number of neices, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Geraldine Lambourne. Celebration of Life services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014 at Berryville Southern Heights Baptist Church. Visitation is 12-2 p.m. before the service begins. Dr. Tony Cherry will officiate. Interment will follow on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014 in Bayou Meto Cemetery in Jacksonville, Ark. Memorials may be made to Southern Heights Baptist Church, Building Fund or the Gideon's International. Services by Smith Family Funeral Home of Green Forest.
