Daryl Lee Renken, 73, of Bella Vista died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark. Born on Dec. 20, 1940, to Edward and Celia Renken in Mitchell, S.D. They moved to Nebraska when he was little to Nebraska City, Neb., while he was growing up. They lived in the Talmage area and he attended school in Brock, Neb., before moving to Nebraska City to finish his high school years, and graduated in 1958. After graduation from high school, he attended Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln, Neb., studying computers, while in the field of Lincoln Tab a data processing firm during the time he was going to school, and the first job was with the city of Lincoln for the water/light department in 1960. He met his wife, Shirley, when he started working at the city where they both worked in the same department. They were married in 1962 and continued to live in the Lincoln area. He later worked for Dana Cole & Associates in Lincoln. In 1978, they moved to Fremont, Neb., where he worked for J.C. Robinson Seed Company in Waterloo, Neb. They lived there for 17 years before moving back to Lincoln, Neb. He worked for Pegler/Sysco Company in Lincoln and Travel and Transport Company in Omaha before retiring in 1999. His career was as a programmer analyst and data processing manager in the span of close to 39 years. They lived in the Lincoln area seven years before retiring to Bella Vista in 2001. He worked some part-time jobs after retiring to Arkansas but kept busy with church activities, yard work and friends and family. They also worked the Arkansas football games in the fall. He was a member of St. Bernard Men's Club, Knights of Columbus, of which he is also a 4th degree member at the church. He enjoyed sports of all kinds while his family grew up. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Renken of Bella Vista; three sons, Michael and daughter-in-law, Robin, of Las Vegas, Nev., Scott of Kearney, Neb., Craig of Spencer, Iowa; grandchildren, Kendall and Brannon of Adams, Neb., Ethan and William of Lincoln, Neb.; sister, Karen Harms of California; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Rosary will be at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, with a Mass of the Resurrection at 9 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, One St. Bernard Lane, Bella Vista, Ark. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 210 N.
