Alice Buford West

Alice Buford West, 101, formerly of Springdale, Ark., passed away at home at the Estrella Assisted Living, Georgetown, Texas, on Oct. 29, 2014. She was born at Alamogordo, N.M., to John Perry Moore and Murtia A. Shockley Moore. She was a devoted member of the Baptist church, and a legal and medical secretary. She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters; five brothers; and by two husbands, Lynn Gordon Buford PM-2C, who paid the supreme sacrifice aboard the cruiser USS Helena during WWII, and Charles L. West in 1992. Survivors include two sons, James Edward Buford and wife, Janice, of Hot Springs, Ark., and Kenneth Gordon Buford and wife, Sharon, of Georgetown, Texas; five grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; nine great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. Memorial services are pending and burial will be at the Bluff Cemetery in Springdale, Ark. Memorials may be made to Missions Ministry at Cross Church in Springdale or the charity of your choice.
