Mary Beth O'Neal

Mary "Beth" O'Neal, 89, of Springdale, Ark., formerly of Fort Smith, passed away in Springdale, Ark., on May 21, 2014. She was born in Elk City, Okla., to Joe DuPree and Mollie Ida (McDaniel) Garnett. She was the former editor of the Elk City Daily News. After moving to Fort Smith, she was a Fort Smith realtor and member of the Fort Smith Board of Realtors. She was a member of the Fianna Hill Ladies Golf Association, on the board of directors for the Fianna Hills Property Owners Association, a former member of the Sparks Auxiliary Board of Trustees and was a member of First United Methodist Church and was in the Aldersgate Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. "Dub" O'Neal. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Ark. She is survived by two daughters, Peggy O'Neal of Dallas, Texas, and Pat Paul and her husband, Matthew, of Fayetteville, Ark.; and two granddaughters, Rachel and Kelley Beth Paul.
