Herman B. Bowery Jr, 81, of Bentonville, Ark., died March 6, 2014, in Springfield, Mo. He was born Aug. 10, 1932, in Key West, Fla. Herman started school in Key West then, with his family, moved and finished school in West Palm Beach, Fla. After graduating high school, the family moved just outside Clarksville, Ark., where he started at the College of the Ozarks in the fall of 1953. Just a few months into the fall semester, he was drafted into the United States Army. He served his country until being honorably discharged in 1955. After being discharged from the Army, he graduated, with a degree in mechanical engineering, from the College of the Ozarks. Following graduation, he went to work for W. C. Norris in Tulsa as a tooling engineer. He went on to retire from Delta Faucet in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sidney and her children, Linda Derrington and Evelyn Wald of Fort Smith, Steve Sommer of Norman, Okla., and Sandra Hall of Mumford, Tenn.; his children, Grant Bowery of Washington, Peggy Bowery and David Bowery of Tulsa; his brother Bob Bowery of Florida; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Herman is preceded in death by his parents, Herman Sr. and Mae Bowery and his sister Ella Mae Delkamp. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Fort Smith National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.
